 the LACUNa experiment

Lacuna is a group that has been meeting monthly since 2016 to engage in readings, screenings and experiments with arts based forms of knowledge-making. Lacuna has focused on the intersection and interaction of politics and aesthetics in practices that are variously described as socially engaged, relational, dialogical, etc.

Drawing on discourses that extend beyond art criticism or theory, Lacuna discussions consider the contradictions that are thrown up by practices that cross the boundaries between cultural, political and communicative action.

For 2022, Lacuna is adopting an embodied, experimental and experiential approach to its discursive practice. Each monthly meeting takes the form of an action, each taking a different approach, led by one member of the group.
