We decided to look at some artworks specifically with a view to applying some of the questions that we have been considering to those works. In particular, some of the questions that arise from the Walead Beshty reading 'Towards an Aesthetics of Ethics' (2015) in Beshty, W. (ed) 2015, Ethics, London: Whitechapel Series.

We are going to select two or three works from the collective FREEE (tbc).

We may also dip into Stephen Wright's Towards a Leixcon of Usership which is available here.

On a related note, Alistair Hudson, the relatively new Director of Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art worked closely with Wright and Tania Bruguera on the development of this project of Arte Util, or Useful Art. His vision for MIMA is based on the concept of the Useful Museum, as an institution dedicated to the promotion of art as a tool for education and social change. There sre some interviews with him on the site here

We agreed Monday 27th June for the next meeting. We may be looking at a change of venue for the next group, watch the blog for details.
